Islamists infighting kill dozens in southern Somalia

At least 33 people have been killed and 40 others were wounded on Tuesday in heavy fighting between two radical Islamist groups in Tora-Torow district of lower Shabele region in southern Somalia, reports said.

Most of the dead and injured were from Al-Shabab and Jabhatul Islamiya rival militias as they exchange heavy artillery weapons inside the town. it is not yet clear the cause of the fighting but some sources say the fight was about power struggling.

"Both sides perished in the confrontation which killed 33 men and there is no ongoing efforts to stop the war," one of the peace elders in the region told Waagacusub Media.

This is the first time that Islamic militants clashed as people grow more concern over that the infigthing might spread into other parts of the region.
