Somalia’s police command on Wednesday
has played down allegations by the spokesman of the
Hizbul Islam (Islamic Party) as baseless.
General Yusuf Hussein Osman (Dhumal), spokesman of the
government’s police distanced the remarks in which Islamic
Party’s spokesman accused the government of training
militias to confront the Islamist fighters.
Speaking to the reporters in Mogadishu on Tuesday, Sheik
Muse Arale said some of the government officials went
to Ethiopia to attend the closure of training course
given militiamen aimed to fight with Islamists.
Mr. Dhumal said the government’s current policy is to
wage war and have enough military supply to restore
peace and stability in the country.
