
Somalia:Suicide attacks on AU peacekeepers.

Two suicide bombers have targeted on the main military
base of the Burundian peacekeepers in the Somalia
capital Mogadishu on Sunday - this happens two days
after the Somali clerics called for total withdrawal of
African Union troops from Somalia within 120 days.
The bombers used cars denoted with explosives which hit
former National Somali University compound now based by
the Burundian troops of African Union peacekeepers.
Spokesman of the Islamist hardliners group of Al-Shabab
Mokhtar Robow Ali Abu-Mansor claimed the responsibility
of today’s suicide attacks in Mogadishu.
He told the local media that the attacks were carried
out by two Jihadists of his group named as Sheik Doon
Wehliye Sidow who has been wearing explosive belt and
Mursal Abdinor Mohamed Ali known as ‘Shigshigaye’ who
drove his car full of explosives and then hit the base
of the AU troops.
“The Mujahideens hit the base of Allah’s enemy who
invaded our country, the infidels perished in our
attacks and we will continue the jihad until the last
soldier of the enemy leaves Somalia,” said Abu-Mansor.
It is not yet clear the casualty on the Burundian troops
who said to have fired several artilleries at the main
Bakara market in Mogadishu in response with the suicide
attack.
There is no immediate casualty from the shelling.
The spokesman of the AU peacekeepers Bridgye Bhuku
denied the Al-Shabab’s claim of the suicide attacks as
none existing story.
“What we know so far is that several mortars hit the
base of Burundian troops and we are conducting
investigations how the latest mortar attack,” said Bhuku.
Despite the denial of the AU spokesman, residents around
the Burundian base said they could this morning two big
explosions which rocked the area.
