The national
security committee succeeded on Thursday to remove some
of the main unlawful checkpoints in Mogadishu, the
capital of Somalia set up by the government troops after
48 hours deadline, officials said - this is part of
settling down the security in the war-ravaged capital.
Spokesman of the
government policemen Abdulahi Hassan Barise said in a
press conference held in Mogadishu this morning that key
road blocks in and outside of the capital were cleared
where the government troops used to take illegal money
from the public buses.
The NSC deployed
Islamic forces in the checkpoints to replace the
government troops to keep the security.
“we will continue
the work of removing all the road blocks in the capital
in the coming days from all corners in the city to end
the people’s complaints,” said Barise.
The bus drivers in
the capital said today they will start stop working in
the public service if the government don’t prevent the
robbery acts on the passengers by some of its troops on
the streets.
