Spokesman of the Somalia's radical Islamist group Al-Shabab'
Mokhtar Robow Abu-Mansor urged the federal parliament
members in Hudur town in Bakol, southwest Somalia to be
satisfied with the peace efforts by the traditional
elders and stop the war activities in the region.
Since Al-Shabab fighters captured the strategic town of
Baidao which was a seat for the transitional federal
parliament weeks ago, there has been efforts by the
elders aimed to prevent more bloodshed in the region
following regrouping of the ousted government troops in
the border town of Hudur to fight against Al-Shabab and
recapture Baidoa.
Mansor said they will not accept to engage war on the
civilian people in Bay and Bakol regions and indicated
that their side is ready to negotiate with their rivals
in the region.
He appealed to the clan elders to try to persuade the
parliament members to take the choice of peace and give
up their intention to restart war.
Several government members with heavily armed troops are
now in Hudur to battle with Al-Shabab fighters who now
control Baidoa town, 250km southwest of the capital.
military movements by the rival sides could be seen in
the region which forced many people to get out of their
house for fear of being caught in the crossfire, sources
told Waagacusub Media.
