A religious meeting, organized by the somali clerics for
correction and salvation, has formally opened in
Mogadishu, the capital Somalia over the situation
prevailing in the country.
The most popular moderate Somali clerics from in and
outside of the country gathered in the meeting which
will last for three days. after today's gathering,
chairman of the council's clerics Sheik Bashir Ahmed
told the local media about five articles agreed
including forming religious council that will warn
against any thing opposing the Islamic religion.
Sheik ibrahim Hassan Adow, former Islamic Courts Union
officer who attended the meeting emphasized the cleric's
council to urgently introduce religious Fatwa
enlightening the public to the difficulties raging the
country and the presence of the African Union
Peacekeepers in the capital.
Sheik Ahmed Dahir Aweys, among the clerics in the
session denied the allegations against the Sheiks that
they leaned to one side and said the clerics are neutral
and willing to end the conflict and bring reconciliation
between the rebel Islamists and the government led
Sharif Sheik Ahmed.
Earlier, the Islamist rebels threatened to blow up the
area of the clerics’ meeting but nothing happened so far
as the security was tightened by the joint forces of
government and Islamic Courts Union.
