After long political consultations, president of Somalia
eventually picked up former Somalia president's son Omar
Abdirashid Sharmarke as the new prime minister of the
country then to form a unity government that will be
expected to end the long standing political and civil
conflict in the country ruined by war.
official sources in Djibouti confirmed the news to
Waagacusub Media as later on friday the president Sharif
Sheik Ahmed will officially announce the PM's
nomination.
Sharmarke, US-based educator, who is in his 40s is
expected to announce his cabinet of ministers. he has to
face many difficulties in solving of a country which
indulged in political quagmire.
the new prime minister is from Darod clan while the
president is from Hawiye, the two most powerful clans in
Somalia. Somali's power structure is based on 4.5 means
four major clans and minority clans.
the bigest challenge that the new prime minister is the
radical Islamist groups who control large part of the
southern and central Somalia as the leader of Al-Shabab
was quoted this week calling the government led Sharif
Sheik Ahmed as un-Islamic and puppet.
the nomination was welcomed by the western and African
diplomats who described it as positive step towards
peace and stability.
