There is ongoing plan to freeze the assets of Somalia
pirates’ chief Mohamed Abdi Hassan known ‘Afweyne’ mean
big mouth, according to the senior Western intelligent
in horn of Africa.
The scout said they are involving in an investigation on
great Somali businessmen linking to the pirate leader
those are now trading on his asset.
Assets of the Somali businessmen linking to the pirate
chief will be frozen as the traders in Dubai, and Uganda
and India will be on court, according to the agent’s
statement.
Hassan, who was the first pirate that hijacked the Japan
owned ship off Somalia coast, has been living in India
2006 to 2008 and for the past six months he was hiding
in Hargeysa, the capital of the Somalia’s northwest
break away republic of Somaliland, anti-piracy officers
told Waagacusub Media.
Hassan now is in the pirate dominated town of Harardhere
where he received huge profits from the ransoms paid by
the owners of the vessels hijacked off the lawless coast
in Somalia.
Hassan owns 19 speed boats and 100 militiamen who daily
go for piracy off the shore.
Residents in the town said Hassan, the pirate chief is
now busy recruiting militiamen that can carry out more
hijackings on the ships and also he was testing weapons
which unloaded from the Ukrainian ship that recently
released for three million dollars of ransom.
For the last two and half year absence from the southern
Somalia, the work was being done by his son named as
Abdukadir Afweyne.
The piracy acts off Somalia coast threatened the
commercial ships and blocked the humanitarian route for
millions of hungry Somalis.
In Harardhere, Waagacusub reporter met some pirate
officers and they told him that they are forming as a
government.
“We want to set up a local administration under the
control of the pirates which will govern Harardhere to
Hobyo town; we want to work on the developments in the
region. We defended the region against the Islamist
terror groups of Al-Shabab,” pirate Chief Hassan.
He said he is patriotic man. I went to India for
two-year study and now I retuned back to my country to
continue his work of keeping the sea against any ship
try to steal the resources,” said Hassan.
The town is filled by hundreds of pirates as the
narcotic leaf of Khat brought daily to the town,
militias seem to be giving up the act of putting up road
blocks and now get all their strengthens to the sea to
find more money, Waagacusub reporter said.
