The joint forces of the transitional federal government
and Islamic Courts Union began on Tuesday missions establishing
the security in the capital and took the control of
the main Bakara market and other surrounding neighborhoods.
Witnesses told Waagacusub Media that the allied troops
spread into vicinities of Ali-Kamin, Ifka Halane, Industrial
Road, Towfiq intersection, Shirkole and 1st July square
road.
A government official said the mission is about ensuring
stability in the city for the next three months.
“We promised that we have to restore peace in the capital
for three months, now we conduct huge task to set up
the security,” mayor of Mogadishu Mohamed Osman Dhagahtur
told Waagacusub.
He added that they have ordered their troop to launch
an attack on any place fired from mortars and capture
those terrorize the population.
“We emphasized the African Union peacekeepers not to
respond with the mortars launched by the offenders to
protect the people,” said Islamic Courts Union leader
Sheik Abdukadir Ali Omar who confessed that they belong
to the unity government led by Sharif Sheik Ahmed.
The security expansion by the joint forces is feared
to bring an outbreak of war when their mission reaches
to the area controlled by the Islamic Party which united
by the radical Islamic movements.
