Kenya: seizes vehicles carrying Somalis at border

The Kenyan army captured seven vehicles from Kismaayo [the provincial port city in southern Somalia] in Lower Jubba Region that were heading for Kenya. The seizure took place in the last twenty four hours at Amumo area which is at the border between the two countries.

The Kenyan security forces seized the lorries and passengers as they tried to sneak into Hagardera refugee campand took them away to an unknown destination. People and vehicles who enter Kenya illegally are believed to be taken to Garissa to face the law.

Kenya security forces mistreat the refugees running away from the difficult siuation in Somalia by subjecting them to beatings and extortion.

Most of the people entering Kenya secretly have to part with 20,000 Kenya shillings to save them from arrest.
