Somalia:moderate president arrives in Mogadishu for talks, Rebel leader declares war.

Somalia’s new president Sharif Sheik Ahmed has arrived in the capital on Saturday to open talks with the armed rebel groups - his first trip to Mogadishu since he was elected in parliament vote held in Djibouti last week.

Ahmed told reporters that he came in Mogadishu to negotiate with the Islamic militants to reach peace and stability in the country which has been in anarchy for past 18 years.

“I am here to consult with the people and tell them about the new change in the country, I am also calling for rebel groups to join the peace process,” Ahmed said thanking how he was welcomed in Mogadishu.

The newly elected president is due to appoint a new prime minister to form a unity government. His arrival came as the united radical Islamist groups declared they will continue the jihad ahead.

"We don’t see any difference; we as the Islamic resistance are still fighting against our enemy which are the government and the foreign troops,” said Sheik Omar Imam, the leader of Islamic Party (an organization which united by four Islamist radical groups.

In a crucial meeting held in lower Juba region in southern Somalia, the allied Islamic resistance vowed to fight against the government led Sharif Sheik Ahmed when it come to the capital.
